This
year sees the Golden Jubilee of one of our countries enduring legacies,
the Royal Air Force
Battle
of
Britain
Memorial Flight who are based at RAF Scampton in
Lincolnshire
.
We are
absolutely delighted to announce that, after a lengthy painstaking and
detailed negotiation, we have been successful in securing a flight of
Spitfires from the BBMF, to undertake low level flypasts of the Royal
Norfolk
Showground just for our delight!
The
first of these flypasts will take place on Saturday with a return visit on
Sunday for the benefit of those who may have missed them the day before.
Both flypasts are scheduled for 2pm.
There
are few sights or sounds able to evoke more powerful thoughts and emotions
than that of the
Battle
of
Britain
Memorial Flight flying overhead.
Since
its formation in 1957 the Flight has displayed at or flown past thousands
of venues in front of millions of people both at home and abroad, but this
time its just for us!
It
remains a tremendous source of national pride; a testament to the
professionalism of those who maintain these venerable old aircraft and
those who fly them.
This
will undoubtedly be a magical moment for us all and we are most grateful
to one member in particular who helped make a reality of what I am sure
will be a fantastic spectacle. So
its video cameras at the ready!
